One more year, Albert Alcaraz‘s music was present at the Cycle ‘Miramon Matinées’ in Donostia (Basque Country) last 18 December, in the voices of Landarbaso Abesbatza . The mixed choir presented a program entitled ‘Choral music: tradition and innovation. Present and Future’. Under the leadership Iñaki Tolaretxipi, the mixed choir played music by artists such as Matsushita, Lauridsen, Barnum, Sarasola, Aragües or Albert Alcaraz. The group performed the work ‘Exsultate Deo (Psalmus 81)’, work published in CM-Ediciones Musicales (Basque Country) and composed and premiered in 2002. The basque choir also performed ‘Hiru damatxo’, released in China last july in the World Choir Games, where the group was honored with several awards.

The Cycle ’Matinees Miramon’ is based on three pillars: providing quality music in a tone of relaxation and pedagogical, serve as a platform for diversification of symphonic work of the members of the Orchestra and its unique scene: the auditorium of the Euskadi Symphony Orchestra in Miramon (Donostia-Basque Country), where Saturday to Saturday turned into a kaleidoscope through which to explore the many facets of music.

One more year, Albert Alcaraz‘s music was present at the XXX Choral Festival of All Saints Fair in Cocentaina-Alicante (Spain) last 6 November, in the voices of Oretania Chamber Choir (Ciudad Real/Castilla La Mancha) Spain. Under the leadership Daniel Báñez, the mixed choir performed the work ‘Aetas carmen melodiae’, work published in CM-Ediciones Musicales (Basque Country) and composed and premiered in 2005.

Oretania Chamber Choir, won the Second prize and the Special Audience Award. Amalthea Chamber Choir of Valencia, conducted by David Gálvez-Pintado won first prize, and La Laguna University Choir won third prize. The jury in this edition, it was composed by Pilar Páez, J. Robert Sellés i Camps, Ana Luisa Chova, Eduardo Cifre and Albert Alcaraz.

One more year, Albert Alcaraz‘s music was played again in the LVIII International Guido d’Arezzo Polyphonic Contest (Italy) where the mixed choir Coro Città di Piazzola sul Brenta, from Padua-Veneto, under the leadership of Paolo Piana, performed the work ‘Ecce quomodo moritur justus’, work published in CM-Ediciones Musicales  (Basque Country) and written to the memory of the young singer Juan Carlos Gómez-Navarro.

Coro Città di Piazzola sul Brenta, won the second prize in the category of sacred and secular polyphony. The jury in this edition, it was composed by renowned conductors like Peter Broabdent, Giovanni Conti, Carl Hogset, Laurent GendreStojan Kuret, Pierc Monti and Wilma Ten Wolde.

A few weeks later, ‘Ecce quomodo moritur justus’ was performed at the Coral Festival of Catalonia, organized by the Federation of Choirs of Catalonia. San Agustin Church in Sabadell (Barcelona) hosted the Valencian composer’s music.

Nottingham Symphony Chorale (Richard Roddis) and the choir Belles Arts of Sabadell (Esteve Costa), played music by artists such as Guerrero, Tallis, Pearsall, Elgar, DuijckRutter, Augustinas or the same Alcaraz.

Albert Alcaraz‘s music was played in the VI National Choral Contest of Infiesto-Asturias (Spain) where the mixed choir Vox Musicalis, from Totana-Murcia, under the leadership of Pedro Pérez, performed the work ‘Cantos de la Huerta’, work published in La mà de Guido (Catalonia) and written for the basque choir, Bogoroditsie Abesbatza, of Durango.

Vox Musicalis, won all the prizes. Cajastur trophy (best interpretation of the compulsary work), Axuntábanse award (best folk performance of the folk work, with the work ‘Cantos de la Huerta’), and finally, the first prize ‘Hazel Gold’, the most important prize of the contest.

The other winners were the Coral Dafne of Oviedo (second prize), and the Polyphonic Choir ‘La Esperanza’ of Guadalajara (third prize), who performed the work of Albert Alcaraz‘Aetas, carmen melodiae’, published in CM-Ediciones Musicales (Basque Country).

During the 20th to August 29th, 2010 took place at the Youth Hostel ‘The Valley’, the VII International Masterclass & Choral Conducting Course, organized by the Federation of Choirs of the Region of Murcia (FECOREM). The teachers invited to the occasion, were Martin Schmidt (from Germany), Nestor Zadoff (from Argentina) and Albert Alcaraz (from France-Spain).

Students came from Catalonia, Madrid, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla-Leon, Andalucia, Asturias, Baleares, Valencia, Euskadi, and a massive representation of the Community of Murcia, worked for a week with the three guest professors, choral repertoire really interesting.

The closing ceremony was held with various concerts. The first in the capital, in the Church of San Lorenzo, in which all students sang under the direction of Martin SchmidtNestor Zadoffand Albert Alcaraz. With the latter, had the opportunity to sing his recognized carol ‘Puer natus est nobis’ and also, the spanish-première of the work, ‘Nox-aurumque’ the American composer, Eric Whitacre.

The second concert, took place in the Church of the Assumption (La Alberca), where the active students and teachers, worked part of the repertoire performed.

Later, d. José Bermejo, President of the Federation of Choirs of the Region of Murcia, delivered the certificates for all the students.

Albert Alcaraz‘s music was present at the XXII International Choir Festival of Dorog (Hungary) last 29 July, in the voices of Arte Vocal Choir (Villanueva de la Serena/Badajoz) Spain, during their tour in Hungary. In addition, the spanish choir also had the honor of performing a concert at the Basilica of Esztergorm, with music by spanish composers.

In the Cultural Center of Dorog Attila Jozsef, following choirs participated: Franz Schubert Vegyeskar Zselíz (Slovakia), Szlovák Asszonykórus PiliscsévNémet Nemzetiségi Dalkör Tarján, Szent Anna templo Kórusa (Esztergom-Hungary), Bányász Kórus Tokodaltáro, Gardellaca Kórus Tokod and finally, Arte Vocal Choir from Villanueva de la Serena-Badajoz (Spain), performing works by Albert Alcaraz, as ‘Aetas, carmen melodiae’ or ‘Exsultate Deo’.

The International Choir Festival of Dorog end next September 25, 2010. This year, and since last May 7, attended choral groups from Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, Slovakia, Norway and Spain.

Albert Alcaraz‘s music will resound at the ‘Quincena Musical de San Sebastián / Donostiako Musika Hamabostaldia’ (Basque Country) which will be held during the 7th August to 3 September, and which this year celebrates its 71st edition.

On the opening day, Landarbaso Abesbatza recently awarded two gold medals and one silver at the World Choir Games in Shaoxing (China), will feature music by composers of the twentieth century, as Vytautas Miskinis, Ko Matsushita, Xabier Sarasola or Albert Alcaraz, under the direction of Iñaki Tolaretxipi, founding conductor of the choir. The concert will take place in the wondefurl Plenary Hall of the City Council of Donosti.

The ‘Quincena’ celebrates several anniversaries: the 250th anniversary of the wedding of King Louis XIV of France and Navarre and Maria Teresa of Austria, which took place in San Juan de Luz, and the four composers, Mahler, Chopin, Schumann and Wolf.

However, the main reason for this release is the music and Russian interpreters, coinciding with the creation of “The Firebird” by Igor Stravinsky, one hundred years ago.

The Symphony Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre, the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre National de Toulouse, the Orfeón Donostiarra, the Choir of the Smolny Cathedral, Loinatz Abesbatza, Koro Saenz, Conductus Ensemble, Coro Easo, NovaLux Ensemble, Alia Mvsica, among others, and also, prestigious conductors and performers like Valery Gergiev, Vasily Petrenko, Mikhail Pletnev, Vladimir Ponkin, Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Tugan Sokhlev, Vladimir Blegetsov … will meet in one of the most important musical cycles of the current scene.

In addition, there will be the world premiere of the Mass Pope John XXIII (Ecumenical Mass) for choir and organ about the basque composer Tomas Garbizu, written in 1962 and presented now by Koro Saenz and Loinatz Abesbatza.

One more year, Albert Alcaraz‘s music will sound in the ‘Eras de la Sal’, auditorium where will hold the LVI Habaneras and Polyphony International Contest of Torrevieja-Alicante (Spain).

In this edition (23 to 30 July) competing choirs from 22 countries around the world, including Venezuela, Argentina, USA, Lithuania, Hungary, Germany, Serbia, Greece, Colombia, Italy, China, Philippines and Spain, with three groups representing: La Kantoria Choir & Gaudeamus Korala Abesbatza, from Basque Country, and ‘El León de Oro’ Choir from Asturias.

The latter group, under the leadership of its founder, Marco A. Garcia de Paz, back again to the contest, offering the work ‘Fariñona and Maranueles’ of Albert Alcaraz work published in CM-Ediciones Musicales (Basque Country). A commission, which collects Asturian folk music has been performed in various competitions worldwide as Tolosa, Arezzo, Maasmechelen,…

The Contest of Habanera and Polyphony of Torrevieja is one of the appointments required of Spanish choral panorama, expressing the prestigious choirs from around the world. The ‘Habanera’, his hallmark, it sounds year after year, in a sailor home town has not forgotten his roots.

One more year, Albert Alcaraz‘s music was played on 24 July, in ‘Port of Hope’ – Villaricos, by the conclusion of the XI National Habaneras and Polyphony of Cuevas de Almanzora-Almería (Spain) with the participation of various national groups.

As happened a few months ago, in the National Contest of Choirs ‘Rivas en canto’-Madrid (Spain) where won the Audience Award, Kodaly Choir, from Molina de Segura-Murcia, under the leadership of José Bermejo & Bernadet Khüne, performed the work ‘Cantos de la Huerta’ of Albert Alcaraz, work published in La mà de Guido (Catalonia).

A commission, wich collects Murcian folk music, wich has been interpreted in differents competitions worldwide as San Vicente de la Barquera, Gran Prix National Choir, Randers… On this occasion, the choir won first prize over the other participating groups.

In addition, Kodaly Choir, performed works by Oltra, Varela and Sánchez, the latter, a Murcia native composer.

Albert Alcaraz music will be present with a world premiere at the 6th World Choir Games, wich will be held on days 15 to 26 July in the cities of Shaoxing and Shanghai (China).

Landarbaso Abesbatza, under the direction of its principal conductor, Iñaki Tolaretxipi, will present ‘Artzainaren Kantu’ as world premiere in the category of folklore, but in addition, will also perform other compositions of the conductor from Novelda (Alicante-Spain), as ‘Exsultate Deo’, ‘Hiru damatxo’ or ‘Txakur gorri’ in the category of mixed choirs and contemporany music.

‘Artzainaren kantu’ (or The Shepherds Song) is a tribute to the traditions of the basque and chinese people, with texts by great poets like Wang Wei, Du Fu and Pierre D’Ibarrart, wich relate beautifully their  landscapes and traditions.

Landarbaso Choir along with Orereta Children’s Choir of Renteria (Basque Country) are the only two spanish representatives which participate in the event, something incredible. Moreover, Landarbaso will have the honor of participating in the opening ceremony of the World Choir Games, which involved more than 400 choirs from around the world.
